Last night our friends Erin and Bob and their daughter Mollianne came over for dinner. Bob and Robert used to work together, and Erin and I have recently reconnected over our blogs (she's been my inspiration and guide). We enjoyed a lovely evening catching up over good food and wine and hope to get together with them again soon.

Dots and Mollianne had fun sitting at the bar.

After greeting Erin by hitting her, Vivian calmed down and watched Frosty the Snowman. (Thank you, Erin, for being so gracious!)

Dinner was Grilled Steak and Onion Salad from Cook's Country, Ripe Tomato Stack with Pine Nuts and Fresh Mozzarella from How to Eat Supper by Lynne Rosetto Kasper and Sally Swift from NPR's Splendid Table, and a fresh fruit salad.

Dots helped me serve the angel food cake that she and I made for dessert.

We had so much fun and the food was delicious! I need to get both recipes from you. Thank you for a wonderful evening and we can't wait to do it again!
Give Dots and Vivian hugs for us! Much love, E
yummmmm. Since I doubt if you had any leftovers to mail to me, please post the steak salad recipe. I found the tomato stack recipe online at http://www.jemangelaville.com/2008/06/08/wcc-29-ripe-tomato-stack-with-pine-nuts-mozzarella/
but think I will leave out the currants. (and plan to make it if we ever have ripe tomatoes). I make something similar with tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, fresh basil, and lemon/olive oil. We had that in Ravello on the Amalfi Coast.
Thank you so much for your comment over at my blog! :D I'm not a big fan of the quilting part of quilting either - lol - really nervous about this coming week!
Now, I shall go and read 'your' blog! :D
