We flew into Atlanta, and I was able to show my mother-in-law the much-loved city where I grew up. We enjoyed a good lunch at Seasons 52 in Buckhead and then drove to South Carolina to visit an old friend from both Atlanta and SMU days at her lakehouse.

Some other families on their way to camp were also there (including another SMU friend from Connecticut whom I hadn't seen in 22 years!). Dots enjoyed meeting the other girls (one of whom ended up being in her cabin), and I loved visiting with my friends while enjoying some good food and wine in a gorgeous setting.

In North Carolina we dropped Dots off at camp and then shopped, hiked, ate a lot of good food, drank lots of wine and sweet tea and just generally enjoyed the cool weather and beautiful scenery. It was a wonderful place to relax for several days, and it was a special treat for us to spend some extended time with Robert's mom.

that looks like a wonderful time. Nothing better than sweet tea and BBQ after a day at the lake. I miss the South!
I loved "going" on vacation with you and especially seeing all the photos! Looks like a great time.
What a beautiful place! You always look so adorable in your pictures!
What a wonderful time. I was just up in Cashiers in June. Where did you rent that wonderful cabin?
And how is Vivian?
What gorgeous scenery. Oh, and that food looked absolutely scrumptious.
Also, I loved the pictures from your tour of the museum in Germany.
Hope your summer continues to be a good one.
