First of all, thank you for all of your prayers and kind words in regards to Vivian's broken arm. They were much needed and appreciated!
Vivian's surgery went very well, though it took longer than we expected (always a cause for anxiety when you're waiting to hear something). Vivian had a distal humerus fracture and it required seven screws and a plate to repair. Yikes! We stayed overnight in the hospital and came home around lunch today. She was able to sleep pretty quietly last night and has continued to rest fairly comfortably today. Vivian has an abnormally high pain tolerance, which is not always a good thing but comes in very handy in this particular situation.
On an equally happy note, Will returned from his mission trip to Jamaica last night and Dots flew home from camp this morning. I'm so glad to have them both home, though sorry that I wasn't able to make much of a celebration of their homecomings (I couldn't even make it to the airport to greet either of them).
Thank you again for your kindness and concern.
Arriving at the hospital
Being entertained by Daddyman's iPhone while we wait in a pre-op room
Heading down to the OR holding area
Vivian was reasonably pleasant until the anesthesiologist arrived. She didn't want any part of him or his IV! Then to add insult to injury, he took her "phone" away and handed it to Robert!
First glimpse of her in recovery
The surgeon gave us these xray pictures. This is Vivian's elbow after the surgery
Another xray view of her arm. I showed these to Vivian's teacher and she commented that it looked like we'd had the procedure done at Home Depot rather than at a hospital!
Resting comfortably back in our room
Our room was lovely! Reminded me of the W Hotel (top two are of our room, bottom left is the Family Waiting Area, bottom right is the view from our room)
Ready to go home!
Precious (and yummy!) cookie bouguet from my Aunt Judy and cousins Cathy and Nancy Baby. Notice that one flower says "Happy Birthday" and another reads "Get Well"

Poor little angel! I am praying for her and the family, I'm so sorry she's having to go through this! The cookie basket is so sweet. Please send Vivian a hug from me! xoxo
Oh Eloise! I have been waiting to hear how Vivian is doing. I had no idea it was THAT bad. I did have to giggle though at the Home Depot comment...
xox
So relieved to hear that Vivian and all of your family are safely back home. I do have to agree with the teacher's assessment of those photographs! Positive thoughts continue for Vivian's recovery and healing.
Those x-rays are indeed incredible. Hard to believe so much "stuff" could be in one little arm! I side with Vivian...I hate IV's with a passion! Glad she has a high tolerance for pain and that she's doing well. Hugs to you all. I know what a stressful time it is for you all....Sharon
I am so glad Vivian and all your babies are home and doing well. I am continuing to pray for you all. The X-Ray pictures are amazing. I have never seen anything like that before.
God bless, Vivian. She and your family have been in my prayers. Again, I hope she has a quick recovery and you all can enjoy a restful summer (if that's possible with a child about ready to go off to college!).
I've been praying for Vivian and her mama. Looks like a bad break.
Isn't it the best to have all of the kids back? It's good to see them go and do but it's nice to gather them up again too.
Take care-
Oh goodness! What a horrible accident! I'm glad to hear that she is on the mend!
Poor Vivian - and poor you. What an ordeal to have to go through. Glad she's on the road to recovery. My thoughts are with you all. The room looked so lovely thgouh and the cookie basket is just fab! I have written again btw...It may take me a while to crank back up to one a week or so, but I'll get there I hope! :)
I'm so glad the surgery went well...I hope she heals as quickly as possible. I have a son with an arm full of screws and pins...he thinks nothing of it...I obsess about it!
Blessings to all of you!

Holy Home Depot...that is a lot of metal in sweet Vivian's arm! I hope she continues without too much complaint.
I'm glad all of your chickens are home again with you! Take care!
I've been away for a couple of days and am just getting to this... Oh my goodness... poor thing! Such a severe break from a fall from bed? My heart is breaking for both of you. Hang in there!
